Honorable Mention:

1956-57 North Carolina

This team finished undefeated and won a national championship, is there really much else to say about them?

1972-73 NC State

Like the in-state rival above, the Wolfpack finished this season undefeated at 27-0. But due to NCAA rule violations, they were banned from playing in any postseason tournaments.

1989-90 Georgia Tech

This Yellow Jackets finished 28-7 overall after making a Final Four run, but fell short to UNLV. They had three scorers average over twenty points a game putting them as one of the top dogs.

2001-02 Maryland

Maryland is no longer in the ACC, but they were members during this National Title run. Their lone National Championship came with a 15-1 conference record, and sharpshooter Juan Dixon averaging 20 points per game.

2014-15 Louisville

This Louisville roster has three current NBA players in Montrezl Harrell, Terry Rozier and Chinanu Onuaku. This Cardinals team had a strong year including an Elite Eight run that saw them fall just short of the Final Four.

2014-15 Virginia

The 2014-15 basketball season was a difficult year to maneuver in the ACC. Tony Bennett and company had another strong season finishing 30-4, but they couldn’t make any noise come tournament time. The team also has three current NBA players in Malcolm Brogdon, Mike Tobey and Justin Anderson.
