8. Dennis Smith Jr. (North Carolina State)

With his combination of size and elite skill, Dennis Smith Jr. is one of the best players in the class of 2016.

The 6’2”, 180-pound point guard out of Fayetteville, NC committed to North Carolina State over California, Duke, Kansas, Louisville, North Carolina and Wake Forest.

Smith is a terrific athlete who brings energy and intensity to the game. He doesn’t have any problem creating offense for himself and others. He’s great with the ball in his hands, as he is capable of driving into traffic or pulling up for a jump shot.

He’s a quick, shifty player who can beat defenders off the dribble or dish it to an open teammate. He’s a good leaper and likes to finish above the rim. Smith often attacks defenses from the baseline, where he’ll dribble the ball into the interior and then finish at the rim with a strong dunk.

When all is said and done, Smith will likely be the best player that NC State head coach Mark Gottfried has brought into the program during his six year tenure.
