Point guard: Jevon Carter

Jevon Carter could end up as the Mountaineers best player this season. The junior is returning as the team’s leading scorer, distributor, and steal man. Much more could be in store if Carter develops further in his third year.

Carter averaged 9.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.7 steals last season. He only shot 38 percent overall and 31 percent from deep, but Carter was among the best perimeter defenders in the conference, making up for the lack of accuracy.

He was also the second best free throw shooter on the team, meaning opponents couldn’t just foul him on drives and wait for him to miss.

With another year of improvement, I can easily see Carter putting up between 12-14 points a night. Throw in 2-4 rebounds, 3-5 assists and 1-2 steals, and you have a potential First Team All-Big 12 selection.
