NCAA Basketball: Player of the Year power rankings (Edition eight)
2. Josh Hart, Villanova
Josh Hart was passed by Frank Mason III in last week’s edition of the Player of the Year power rankings.
This week, Hart remains at number two. However, Lonzo Ball could’ve easily passed the Villanova star in this edition due to two shaky performances by the versatile wing.
In a win over St. John’s, Villanova didn’t just play one of their worst games of the season, Hart did as well. He scored just 11 points, shot an inefficient 3-of-14 from the field, had one assist and recorded four turnovers.
In the next outing, a blowout against Seton Hall, Hart also scored only 11 points. He shot 5-of-10 from the field, but only hit 1-of-5 threes and recorded just four rebounds.
This certainly doesn’t mean that Hart is suddenly losing ground in these power rankings, but it does mean that Ball is starting to creep back into the mix.
Villanova will play two games that they should be favored heavily in this week, so their big test will come against Virginia at the end of the month. If Hart has a sensational performance that will only add to his profile.
