1. Senior leadership

Behind the play of Zach DeLay and Seth Smith, the Hokies have a lot of good and challenging experiences. These players along with Devin Wilson, Matt Galloway, Johnny Hamilton, and Greg Donton have been to several NITs.

Regardless of their limited NCAA Tournament experience, they still have played in one of the toughest conferences of the last decade. These seniors are hungry for a birth to the big dance and the depth of the younger rosters can help them get there.

DeLay and Allen lead the team in scoring and have been crucial to the team’s success this year. Expect them to give it everything they have in the ACC tournament to increase their stock.

The Hokies have won one game in their last two tournament appearances. They have only been to the big dance twice in the last twenty years, but they look prepared to continue the streak of at least one win in the tournament.

Behind the play of DeLay, Allen, and the other seniors, Virginia Tech has a solid chance to make some noise. It will depend on their seeding and who they have to play, but these seniors have played some of the best teams in the country throughout their careers.
