Bracketology: Bubble Watch, Conference Tournament Week One
Big 12
Lead-Pipe Lock: Baylor, Kansas, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Iowa State
Some Perspiration: None.
Better Double-Up on the Deodorant: Kansas State, TCU
Kansas State Wildcats, 17-12 (6-10): Since beating West Virginia on January 21st, it has not been a good stretch of basketball for Kansas State. They are 2-8 since that win and have plummeted out of my projected field. That is the bad news for K-State are the moment. The good news? They finish with two winnable games that could bring back some confidence before heading into the Big 12 tournament.
Record vs. RPI top-50: 3-8 Record vs. RPI 50-100: 1-2
Monday seed: First Four Out RPI: 51 SOS: 68
Bad losses: at Tennessee, at Texas Tech, at Oklahoma
Remaining schedule: at TCU (3/1), vs. Texas Tech (3/4)
TCU Horned Frogs, 17-12 (6-10): Speaking of teams struggling as of late, TCU hasn’t been much better than Kansas State. The Horned Frogs have lost five games in a row and have also fallen out of the tournament. Like K-State, TCU also has two winnable games (one against K-State) before the conference tournament. It might not have been a win, but at least TCU looked like they were getting back on track in their one-point loss to West Virginia over the past weekend.
