4. Responding to Their Senior Night Loss

Last week, the Zags seemed to be a lock as just the seventh NCAA basketball team since the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers to enter the postseason undefeated. After a surprising home loss to BYU on Senior Night, there were doubts raised about the Zags postseason chances.

While the Bulldogs proved this year that they belong in the conversation for the Final Four, their response to this loss will make doubters believe. While good teams can let a loss ruin their momentum, great teams usually bounce back with a vengeance.

This storyline could get even more interesting if BYU is able to upset Saint Mary’s, setting up a rubber match between the two schools.

The Zags will need to bounce back and win their WCC Tournament games as definitively as they were able to win their first 17 conference games. Any struggles within the tournament, even against top-25 ranked Saint Mary’s.

Expect Mark Few to have his team ready for this opportunity to prove they are one of the best. What transpired in Spokane last Saturday should serve as the wake-up call this Gonzaga team needed.
