1. Fighting for a 1-Seed

As the conference season closes, the conversation over which teams deserve the tops seeds is intensifying. While Kansas and Villanova are virtual locks for the top line, the remaining two spots are up for grabs. North Carolina, Louisville, UCLA, Oregon, and Gonzaga are the most likely candidates for those spots.

All Gonzaga can do now, to improve their resume, is win their conference tournament and wait for the ACC and PAC-12 tournaments to wrap up.

A conference tournament victory and another top-25 victory over Saint Mary’s will make the Zag’s resume as good as anyone in the countries. The arguments against the strength of the WCC will continue, but Gonzaga boasts the nation’s best record, efficiency and margin of victory.

Since the Major Conferences do not begin their tournaments until next Tuesday and Wednesday, all eyes will be on Vegas. Believers and doubters alike, will tune in to see the nation’s #4 team make its final case for a 1-seed in the West.
