Deonte Burton carries Iowa State over Kansas

Kansas meets Iowa State in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament, and the Jayhawks could very likely get sent home packing early.

Deonte Burton has been beyond outstanding this season, especially in prominent games when Monte Morris needs additional assistance. Against the Jayhawks this season, Burton has posted 21 points and 29 points in the two meetings between the schools. The latter performance was an overtime victory for Iowa State in Lawrence when Burton added eight rebounds and six steals to the stat sheet.

Burton always shows out in paramount contests. Against ranked opponents, Burton averages 20.0 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Additionally, the senior is phenomenal defensively, averaging 3.7 steals and several blocks per game against ranked opposition.

The 6’5″ guard, as well as his backcourt companion of Monte Morris, are undoubtedly the x-factors for this Iowa State group. The Cyclones’ success relies heavily on the production of this duo that is capable of leading ISU to a run in the Big 12 and NCAA Tournament.
