4. Derrick Walton Jr., PG, Michigan

A Power Five conference player? It may seem as though Walton doesn’t fit here, but, unless you watch Big Ten basketball, chances are you have never heard of him.

Walton is the man who has fueled Michigan’s improbable run. Walton is first on the team in points (15.2), second in rebounds (4.7), first in assists (4.7), and first in steals (1.1). He is one of the better rebounding guards in the country and seems to make plays when it matters most.

During Michigan’s four wins in four days to capture the Big Ten tournament crown, Walton averaged 20.5ppg, 5.0rpg, and 6.0apg. If Michigan continues their hot streak in the tournament, it will be because of Walton.
