Quinnipiac Bobcats defeat Miami Hurricanes

The No. 12 Quinnipiac Bobcats (29-6) earned their biggest victory in school history by pulling off an 85-78 upset over the No. 4 Miami Hurricanes (24-9).

Quinnipiac made a season-high 15 three-pointers, led by Morgan Manz’s season’s best six triples. Manz finished with 22 points off the bench while Aryn McClure contributed 15 points. Paula Strautmane had a fantastic all-around game, chipping in 11 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Sarah Shewan had eleven points and six boards. The Bobcats’ bench outscored the Hurricanes’ reserves 41-8.

Quinnipiac held a lead for the last 30 minutes, but it was Adily Martucci’s big corner three-pointer with 57.4 seconds left that gave the Bobcats a little cushion (78-74). Manz then knocked the ball away from Jessica Thomas on Miami’s next possession to all but secure the win. Quinnipiac made 7-of-8 free throws down the stretch.

Thomas had a game-high 25 points, and Keyona Hayes contributed 21 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for Miami.
