Another close loss to a Final Four team, Tennessee only lost by two to the eventual National Champions, UNC, by a final score of 73-71. The Volunteers caused the Tar Heels major problems throughout the game, and their youth showed at the end as they coughed up the lead.

Tennessee finished the game with 22 personal fouls, which is likely the reason that they ended up losing this game.
