5. Jim Larranaga making another tournament run?

Ever since leading George Mason to the Final Four back in 2006, Miami head coach Jim Larranaga has only made the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament twice (once in 2012-13 and once in 2015-16). Both of those seasons, Miami actually could’ve made it further based on their success in the ACC — the 2012-13 team won 29 games and finished first and the 2015-16 team won 27 games and finished second.

It would be nice to see Larranaga make another run as he is currently 139-69 at Miami and has helped the Hurricanes reach the Big Dance in three of his six seasons as head coach.

He deserves another run.

It would not only reflect greatly on Larranaga’s coaching career if he could get two separate programs to the Final Four, but it would put Miami athletics on the map beyond just their football program. The ‘Canes have never, in the history of the program, reached the Final Four. Fortunately, Coral Gables should be excited because they have a team and a coach that can get them there in 2017-18, especially if things break right.
