14. Old Dominion over Villanova – 1995

The triple overtime thriller was one of the wildest in NCAA Tournament history. This would have been a great game whenever it took place, but during the tournament, it just adds some bonus points.

Often in the tournament when lower seeds are hanging with the power teams, they can’t quite finish the game or lose late leads down the stretch. Whether it was due to fatigue or lack of experience, plenty of times the underdogs just can’t hang on.

Not only did Old Dominion take Villanova into overtime, but they took them to triple overtime, and won.

The Wildcats were 25-7 entering the game, and Old Dominion had a record of 20-10. The Monarchs had only one tournament win in school history before 1995 and Villanova’s history is prestigious. The Monarchs pulled off one of the wildest NCAA basketball games ever played.
