Five-star Point Guard Trevon Duval (IMG Academy, from Wilmington, DE)

247Sports Crystal Ball: 72% Duke; 11% Kansas; 11% “Foggy; 6% Arizona

With his most recent official visit being a month ago, it appears that the nation’s top point guard is beginning to close on a decision. A top five was announced back in November consisting of Arizona, Baylor, Duke, Kansas, and Seton Hall. All five schools have hosted Duval on an official visit, but Duke holds a commanding lead in the Crystal Ball.

Duval’s combination of explosiveness, ball handling, and scoring ability make him one of the most exciting players in all of high school. His transfer to IMG Academy for his senior campaign has given Duval a substantial amount of national exposure.

PREDICTION: Duke
Confidence Level: 45%

The Blue Devils have plenty to offer for the top point guard in the senior class. Gary Trent Jr, the nation’s top shooting guard, has already signed to Duke as well and could potentially create a freshmen-led backcourt for next season.

We do know sophomore Luke Kennard will enter the draft with an agent, forgoing his remaining two years in college. Frank Jackson will likely be at Durham next year, but has very little chance of starting over Duval.

Kansas cannot guarantee a starting role for Duval with the addition of Malik Newman. Junior Devonte’ Graham will be back in Lawrence next season as well. The Jayhawks will need that backcourt duo to see significant floor time in order to be successful, making Kansas a less intriguing choice for Duval.
