Miller Kopp – Houston Defenders

Stats: 21.0 PPG, 6.0 RPG, 2.0 APG, 2.0 SPG

Kopp, an unranked shooting guard, blossomed out of nowhere and had one of the best first weekends at the UAA. He currently holds sole possession as the top scorer in the 17U division (21.0 PPG), a feat over plenty of the top juniors nationwide. Additionally, he averages team-bests of six rebounds per game and two steals per game.

The 6’6″ shooting guard’s best showing was against the Illinois Wolves in which Kopp went off for 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting. I watched in awe as seemingly ever shot that left his hands fell through the basket.

Kopp’s breakout has surely been sudden but is undoubtedly impressive. As a 2018 prospect, Kopp had just five offers heading into the spring, according to Verbal Commits. His dominance has already earned him four additional offers, including ones from Northwestern and Wichita State.

The question must be posed: was this just an unanticipated burst or can Kopp maintain this level of production going forward in the UAA. Based on the two occasions I saw him play, I prefer the latter.
