4. Butler defeats Winthrop and Middle Tennessee State

Playing in the NCAA Tournament is definitely a highlight for any team. Even though Butler did not pull off the upset and make it past North Carolina in the Sweet 16, their play in the first two rounds should not be ignored. In both of the first two games of the Tournament, the Bulldogs did not trail for a single second.

In their first game against the 13-seed Winthrop, senior Avery Woodson was the man who stepped up, burying six three-pointers on his way to 18 points. He had six of the first 10 points for the Dawgs as the team took the lead and never looked back.

During the second matchup with 12-seed MTSU, Andrew Chrabascz got things going and the Dawgs once again never relinquished their lead. Kelan Martin (19 points), Chrabascz (15), and Baldwin (13) were double-digit scorers for Butler in the win that featured a great defensive effort, limiting Giddy Potts to zero points.
