USC Basketball: 5 reasons Trojans will win the 2018 NCAA Tournament
By Stuart Gill
Andy Enfield has gotten everyone to buy into this program.
A head coach since 2011, Andy Enfield has quickly proven that he knows how to construct a successful program. Prior to USC, Enfield shocked the nation by guiding his Florida Gulf Coast Eagles to 26 wins and an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen in the 2012-2013 season.
Upon Enfield’s arrival at USC, former Athletic Director Pat Haden called him “a respected teacher who develops his players on the court and sees them excel in the classroom.” Enfield inherited a group that had gone 20-44 during the two seasons before he arrived and has quickly righted the ship. The Trojans have won 47 games over the past two years, logging over 20 wins in a season for the first time since the 2008-2009 campaign. This past season they set a program record by winning 26 games, and they made it to the Round of 32.
Enfield has also been a terrific recruiter. He and his staff pulled in the nation’s 12th best freshman class for the 2014-2015 season, which included current seniors Jordan McLaughlin and Elijah Stewart. The two guards have been an integral part in USC’s return to relevancy in the Pac-12. Their continued contributions to the program are a testament to the culture that Enfield has fostered throughout his time at USC.
Coming off of his best season yet and with all of his weapons in place, Enfield is poised to take this group all the way to Championship weekend in March.
