Brooklyn Nets

Draft picks: 22nd overall, 57th overall

Jonathan Givony Projections: DJ Wilson (#22), Dwayne Bacon (#57)

Lukas Harkins Projections: Jawun Evans (#22), Luke Kornet (#57)

Draft Outlook: For the first time in a while, the Brooklyn Nets have a young guard with star potential. As of just Tuesday, it was announced that the Nets were going to acquire D’Angelo Russell from the Los Angeles Lakers. With him on board, the team finally has a player that they can hopefully build upon. Now, with a first round pick in tow, they have the ability to snag a prospect with the ability to grow next to Russell. Obviously, they have a long way to go following a season that net them the worst record in the entire NBA. Their rebuilding process will last for the next several years, but at the very least it looks like the team is heading in the right direction. They will need to hope that this first round pans out well and that they can get some luck out of their free agency and some of their other young players becoming solid rotation players across the league. With the Warriors and the Cavaliers running the league right now, it is certainly not a bad time to be in rebuilding mode.

#22 overall: C Jarrett Allen, Texas

A talented young big man with an outrageous wing span, Allen could pair up with D’Angelo Russell to be the future of the Nets. He has work to do on both ends of the floor, but he has shown flashes of finishing around rim, shooting mid-range, and being a solid rim-protector. The Nets have a lot of time to develop their players before needing to be a contender, so this pick makes sense. Grade: B+

#57 overall: SF Alekandar Vezenkov, Cyprus
