Missouri Basketball: Breaking down Tigers’ 2017 recruiting class
By Taylor Sturm
Michael Porter Jr.
The No. 1 player in all of 2017 recruiting and likely all of college basketball, Michael Porter Jr. might be the player who finally saves the Missouri Tigers from what seems like a permanent place at the bottom of the SEC.
The 6’10, 215-pound small forward from Seattle, Washington, played at Nathan Hale High School and impressed almost immediately. His decision to come play for the struggling Tigers came as a surprise to many, but Cuonzo Martin is a coach who is loved by his players and has coached multiple NBA players in the past.
It helps too that his dad is now on the Missouri staff.
Where Porter is a real genius, however, is that by playing for Missouri he likely plays against the Kentucky Wildcats multiple times next season – showing off his skills against a team full of multiple NBA lottery picks. I don’t know about you, but I’m already excited for the eventual showdown between Porter and Kevin Knox that could shake up the 2018 NBA Draft.

If Missouri makes the 2018 NCAA Tournament, Michael Porter Jr. will be the No.1 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. If they don’t, he might do so anyway – just look at Ben Simmons at LSU.
