Devontae Shuler

Devontae Shuler is a 6’3, 180-pound shooting guard out of Oak Hill Academy. Rated as a four-star recruit by most recruiting sites, he was offered by several schools as one of the top 25 shooting guard prospects in the 2017 class.

The biggest surprise to me is that he ended up choosing Ole Miss over South Carolina since the school is located in his hometown, but it makes sense that someone would want to get away from their hometown for college (I know I did).

With a few good showings early in the season for the Rebels, Shuler could find himself as one of the second or third players off the bench. Second leading scorer Sebastian Saiz might be gone, but this team is filled with talented guards. It will be an uphill battle for Shuler to earn playing time.

However, Shuler is built to be an extremely physical guard. His upside defensively is something to keep an eye on, and, with a little coaching from Andy Kennedy, he could find himself playing key minutes off the bench as a freshman – with a lot more to come before his career is over in Oxford.
