Unranked

There are two “unranked” players in the Vols’ 2017 recruiting class that are still solid pick-ups. A JUCO player in Chris Darrington and a French player in Yves Pons.

Chris Darrington

A 6’1, 175-pound point guard from Toledo, Ohio, Chris Darrington played in junior college last season with Vincennes University. Darrington played well for his JUCO team. There was not a good way to see player statistics, so you can see his statistics game by game here for yourself.

Darrington should get a lot of play this season, especially from off the bench. He is a player to keep an eye on for the Vols.

Yves Pons

Mark my words; Yves Pons will be the best player on this Vols’ team within two or three seasons.

Unranked on many sites due to his French roots, Pons is rated as a four-star recruit by the 247 Sports composite. At 6’6, 217-pounds, the small forward is the perfect size for his position and can score with ease. I absolutely love this pickup by Rick Barnes.

Pons’ acquisition earned a lot of attention when it first happened and has taken a back seat to Kentucky and Missouri grabbing the top players in the country. However, Pons could go toe to toe with some of these players – luckily we’ll get to see it firsthand this season.
