1. Kentucky Wildcats

At least four of the Wildcats’ starters in 2017-18 will be freshmen. Coach John Calipari could easily start five freshmen but 6’9″ sophomore Wenyen Gabriel will likely start at either power forward or center. The Wildcats’ eight-man recruiting class includes six consensus five-star recruits.

6’9″ combo forward Kevin Knox leads the class. Knox, a consensus top-10 recruit, is gifted athletically and can play multiple positions. Kentucky also landed three top frontcourt players in Nick Richards, Jarred Vanderbilt and P.J. Washington.

Five-star point guard Quade Green will take over the point guad position for DeAaron Fox. 6’8″ wing Hamidou Diallo, who enrolled in January, is the other five-star recruit. Four-star prospects Jermarl Baker and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will see major minutes as well.

Despite Duke not landing at #1, it is important to note that the signing of Marvin Bagley could easily make them the preseason top team in the country. With Grayson Allen returning for his senior season, this team has plenty of experience to go along with their youth. Watch out for Duke to be around the top of the polls all season once again.
