NCAA Basketball: How Marvin Bagley’s commitment affects recruiting rankings
6. Texas Longhorns
Shaka Smart has done a fantastic job recruiting at Texas. This has been the third year that Smart has been part of ESPN’s top 15 recruiting class. The Longhorn’s recruiting class was rated 15th in the nation in 2015, 11th in 2016 and sixth in 2017.
NBA prospect Mo Bamba leads a five-man class that features three consensus four-star prospects. Bamba is very talented and has all the attributes that a team could want in a 7-footer — size, length, mobility, and agility. Bamba had 14 points in his first game with Longhorns on their Australia trip.
Matt Coleman, a top-7 point guard in the class, could start at point guard. Coleman will see plenty of time, regardless. Jase Febres is a big-time shooter though he is in a logjam in the backcourt. Jericho Sims, the other four-star recruit, is versatile with the ability to play multiple positions.
Royce Hamm is a consensus 3.7 recruit and is also a very versatile frontcourt player who has the ability to play multiple positions. Hamm and Sims will likely see sparse time though big things will be expected next season.
