Pac-12 Basketball: Ranking the top transfers in the conference
4. SG Elijah Brown, Oregon
Elijah Brown is a 6’4″ scoring guard who is on his third school in five seasons. Brown started his career at Butler before transferring to New Mexico for his sophomore season. He was very productive at New Mexico while averaging 21.7ppg as a sophomore and 18.8ppg as a junior, but he has decided to play his final season as a grad transfer at Oregon.
Brown is not going to average 20ppg this season, though, since the Ducks play in a stronger conference and he will have a smaller role in the offense. Oregon will likely start standout sophomore Payton Pritchard and star freshman Troy Brown at the guard positions, but Elijah Brown will still see major minutes.
The three guards will play together for extended periods of time since Troy Brown has enough size to guard multiple positions. This will make Oregon very difficult to defend since all three guards can create for themselves and for others. If Elijah Brown can regain his long-range accuracy from his sophomore season, he will be a significant weapon for the Ducks.
A sixth man role would be perfect for Elijah Brown since he is known as a volume scorer and he could provide an offensive boost off the bench. This will be an adjustment for Brown who was used to dominating the ball at New Mexico, but he could thrive if he embraces the smaller role.
Expect Brown to be a double figure scorer and to establish himself as one of the best sixth men in the country. 11-12ppg and 2-3apg seem reasonable for Brown and would signify a great season.
