Point Guard – Aaron Holiday, Junior

Returning for his third year with the program, Aaron Holiday was a defensive star last season on an otherwise offensive focused team. Although a starter as a freshman in 2015-16, Holiday was moved to the bench last season. Yet, heading into 2017-18, the starting guard position will once be held down by Holiday.

Holiday is the top returning scorer from last year’s team and should be a leader on both ends of the floor. A capable scorer at 12.3 points per game on 48.5 from the field (41.1% from three), Holiday is also excellent when creating for others (4.4 assists per game) and is a lockdown defender. Combining stats with his on-court play and two years of experience, it seems that Holiday has the makings of being one of the better players in the Pac-12 this season.

He might not be a flashy star player like the UCLA starting guards last season, but Holiday is underrated nationally and seems to always make the right move. His leadership on the court could be vital for the otherwise young Bruins team this year. Speaking of young Bruins, Holiday’s expected running mate in the backcourt will be entering his first year on campus for this season.
