5. Fresno State Bulldogs

The recent decline of the prestige of the Mountain West conference can be due to the lack of quality teams in recent years. San Diego State, New Mexico and UNLV have experienced down seasons as of late, leaving the conference in a weaker place compared to before.

Led by Rodney Terry, Fresno State has stepped up to be part of the class of the MWC in recent years. The program struck gold last off-season with the signing of five-star recruit William McDowell-White. Unfortunately, academic issues ended that partnership so Fresno State will need to find new players.

To find new players, the Bulldogs entered the transfer market and is bringing in five players who have already tested themselves in Division I hoops.

Noah Blackwell, Long Beach State

Ray Bowles, Pacific

Braxton Huggins, New Mexico State

Eric Vila, Texas A&M (must sit out this season)

New Williams, Auburn (must sit out one semester)

Add along two intriguing prospects in Villa and Williams, who will both sit out this season, and the Bulldogs could remain a fixture at the top of the conference. And figure that the other schools will eventually get back to top-25 caliber, we could get back to the glory days of four or more bids for the Mountain West.
