…but Quade Green deserves more credit

Quade Green comes into this Kentucky Wildcats’ squad as the No. 26 player in the Class of 2017 and the No. 5 point guard according to 247 Sports, but he might be the most important player of the Wildcats’ roster.

He’s not going to average 20 points a game or anything crazy, and he probably will not average anything close to De’Aaron Fox’s 16.7 points a game from last season.

However, he is the lone, starting quality true-point guard on this roster, and the team will go the way he goes.

Surrounded by scorers, Green will have to make the right passes and avoid turnovers while probably averaging in the high-30s in terms of minutes. There is depth across this Kentucky roster, but there is not really anyone else who can do everything that Green will be tasked with doing.

One of the smallest players on the court for the Wildcats, he will also probably be guarded by some of the most ferocious defenders that Kentucky faces, as opposing coaches will zero in on how important he is to this team.

Sure, it can be argued that there are multiple players who can handle the ball on this roster, but Green is really the only one who can pull all the right strings at all the right times. He is key to a successful 2017-18 campaign, and I think he delivers.
