Big East Basketball: Power ranking the conference (Nov. 22 – Nov. 28)
As mentioned last week, Georgetown’s ranking is unlikely to change anytime soon. Despite being one of the only two teams in the conference still undefeated to this point in the season, the Hoyas are yet to be challenged by any major conference opponent. Still, they did come away with their first solid victory of the year this past week.
It might not be as good as some of the other wins this conference has, but the Hoyas went on the road and defeated Richmond this week. The Spiders are 1-5 so far this season, but they are a program residing in another fairly well-regarded conference in the Atlantic 10. After that victory, Georgetown went back home for their fifth straight victory to open the season, this time coming against Maine.
Jessie Govan has been the lead man so far for the Hoyas. He is tops on the team in both points and rebounds per game while averaging a double-double. He is one of the four Hoyas currently scoring in double-figures for their per game averages. Marcus Derrickson, Kaleb Johnson, and Jahvon Blair are the others providing the scoring punch for head coach Patrick Ewing.
Schedule for this week:
- Coppin State (0-6) at Georgetown on Dec. 3
