The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in a very similar situation to Rutgers. The Cornhuskers really don’t have any quality wins to indicate that they could contend this season, even though they hold a 6-3 record.

This week, Nebraska went 2-1. They did have a decent win over Boston College (71-62) in the Big Ten/ACC challenge at home and also defeated Long Beach State 85-80.  But, the Cornhuskers were absolutely dominated by Michigan State in Lansing on Sunday (86-57). The Cornhuskers were no match for the much superior Spartans.

The only other road game that the Huskers have played was at St. Johns on Nov. 16, a game in which they lost handily, 79-56.  So, the Huskers really need to prove that they can go out and get a quality road game.

Thus far, Nebraska has been led by junior guard James Palmer, who averages 14.3 points per game. Palmer is followed by Glynn Watson Jr., a key contributor on last years squad who is averaging 12.9 points per game.  Isaac Copeland, a Georgetown transfer, averages 12.0 points per game while leading the team in rebounding at 6.3 rebounds per game.

Schedule for this week:

  • Minnesota (8-1, 1-0 Big Ten) at Nebraska on Dec. 5
  • Nebraska at Creighton (5-2) on Dec. 9
