Big Ten Basketball: Power ranking the conference (Nov. 26-Dec. 3)
The Indiana Hoosiers are really trying to find their identity after hiring former Dayton head coach Archie Miller while also losing the majority of their main contributors from last year to the NBA or graduation. The Hoosiers have really struggled so far this season, but also have some encouraging signs as well.
One of the main signs of encouragement came when the Hoosiers played at home against Duke on Nov. 29 this past week in the Big Ten/ACC challenge. The Hoosiers lost this game 91-81, but it was really much closer than the final score indicates. Indiana really stayed neck-and-neck with the Blue Devils until the last couple of minutes, where the top-ranked Blue Devils were able to ultimately pull away.
The Hoosiers then had a less than impressive performance in Ann Arbor on Saturday, falling to Michigan 69-55 to begin conference play.
Still, Archie Miller’s squad seems to be moving in the right direction from the beginning of the season, where the Hoosiers dropped a 90-69 decision against rival Indiana State. This was evident in their solid win over Iowa on Dec. 4.
Indiana is led on the season by junior Juwan Morgan’s 13.6 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game. Robert Johnson also contributes 13.1 points per game, while De’Ron Davis adds 11.0 points per game.
Schedule for this week:
- Indiana at Louisville (4-2) on Dec. 9
