Big Ten Basketball: Power ranking the conference after week 6
The Indiana Hoosiers remain at No. 12 in this week’s power rankings after another head-scratching week. The Hoosiers could very easily be higher in the rankings right now, but their blowout loss to a poor Fort Wayne team is looming large. The Hoosiers have just one win in the RPI top-100 currently (via CBS Sports).
That win came against the then-No. 18 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Indianapolis, 80-77. Juwan Morgan had a huge game for Indiana, scoring 34 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Robert Johnson added 20 points for Archie Miller’s team. This was a huge win for Archie and he is expected to get many more of these types of wins in the future.
The Hoosiers followed this upset victory with a home loss to the Fort Wayne Mastodons, 92-72. For the second straight year, the Hoosiers fell at the hands of the Mastodons, which has to be very frustrating for Indiana fans. The inconsistency of this team is very surprising, especially with Miller at the helm.
Morgan (15.9 ppg, 7.0 rpg) is the force that gets the Hoosiers going. Johnson follows closely behind with his 12.3 points per game scoring average. Big man De’Ron Davis is also contributing 10.6 points per contest.
Schedule for this week:
- Tennessee Tech (8-4) at Indiana on Dec. 21
