Big 12 Basketball: Where are Trae Young and the Sooners ranked after the WVU loss?
The Wildcats went winless this week, due to inconsistent performances from certain players. In the loss to West Virginia, Kamau Stokes had a terrible shooting performance, going 0/10 from the field. To help make up for the point guard’s bad game, Xavier Sneed led the team in scoring with 20 points, with 18 coming from the 3-point line.
Barry Brown had 14 points, but it was offset by his seven turnovers. Dean Wade continues to impress, with 17 points and 10 rebounds in the eight-point loss.
The next game turned out to be a double whammy for Kansas State, not only losing in a non-competitive game to Texas Tech but also losing arguably their best player Stokes to an ankle injury. He wasn’t able to play in the second half, and his status for next week has yet to be determined by the completion of this piece.
As good as Sneed was in the first game, he was equally as bad in this one, going just 1/10 from the filed. Brown had 24 to lead the Wildcats, and Dean chipped in with 14 points.
Kansas State has shown to be competitive, and losing to two of the best teams in the league is nothing to be ashamed of. But if Stokes is out for an extending period of time, the Wildcats could descend to the bottom.
