Indiana remains in the same spot in this week’s power rankings despite winning their only game since the last edition of the power rankings came out. This team still has much to prove in order to move up any in the rankings.

In the game mentioned last week, the Hoosiers took care of business in Minneapolis, knocking off the shorthanded Gophers 75-71. This was a very good win for a young Hoosiers squad, and a win that Archie Miller desperately needed.

They did this without one of their main post players, De’Ron Davis, who is out indefinitely with a lower leg injury that he suffered in practice last week. This is a big blow for the Hoosiers, but they looked pretty solid against the Gophers this past weekend.

Three players scored 68 of Indiana’s 75 points in the win. Robert Johnson had 28, while Juwan Morgan and Justin Smith each had 20 points a piece.

The scoring output was somewhat of a good sign for the Hoosiers. Obviously Johnson (13.6 ppg) and Morgan (15.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg) are going to get their fix of scoring every game. But for Hoosier fans, Justin Smith’s (4.9 ppg) performance Saturday was reassuring. Other guys still need to step up on a consistent basis outside of Johnson and Morgan for the Hoosiers to find anymore success this season, however.

Schedule for this week:

Penn State (12-5, 2-2) at Indiana on Jan. 9

Northwestern (10-7, 1-3) at Indiana on Jan. 13
