Denver drew possibly the most difficult array of games to start league play. They began with a loss to South Dakota, then they moved on to Fort Wayne, a game in which they lost by 19 points. While Daniel Amigo has shown himself to be an efficient offensive weapon, Denver had another source of offense in that game.

Junior guard Joe Rosga led the team in points with 18 and he brought in six rebounds. The Pioneers did struggle to keep pace with a Mastodon team that was rather feisty after dropping a game to Oral Roberts. While Denver is usually an efficient team shooting the basketball, they were unable to be consistent in that game. Their dreary 21% shooting clip from three is a clear illustration of that.

The season is already on the brink for Denver this weekend. They face North Dakota State on the road next and head to South Dakota State on Saturday. As of now, it seems the Pioneers will start their Summit League season 0-4, which leaves the team doomed for the rest of year.
