For the Leathernecks, their level of success relies solely on Dalan Ancrum. The senior has paced the team all season, and much like Zach Jackson at Omaha, Ancrum’s efforts may prove futile. Take for example his performance last week against Oral Roberts where he scored 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting. While this was a stellar individual performance, Western Illinois lost the game by 15 points.

Now it is true that they ran into the hottest team in the conference in their only game last week. However, Ancrum will need some help besides Kobe Webster if the Leathernecks hope to move out from the bottom rungs of the Summit League.

They can start moving in the right direction in their game against the faltering Omaha Mavericks next. Western Illinois then moves away from conference play in a match-up with NCCAA’s Oak Hills Christian College. There really is no excuse for the Leathernecks not going 2-0 this weekend.
