1. No more “Point Guard U”

Arizona has a rich history of great play from the point guard position that stretches well beyond the Sean Miller era. Miller has had his fair share success as well, with the likes of Nic Wise, Mark Lyons, and T.J. McConnell. Even in off years, guards like Nick Johnson and Kadeem Allen have filled that position valiantly, especially on the defensive end.

But this year? Parker Jackson-Cartwright — a great kid, a senior and a leader in the locker room — has represented the Achilles’ heel all season. At 5’8”, he’s woefully undersized which has limited him on both ends of the floor. He has been a phenomenal backup throughout his tenure in Tucson, but the youth of Alex Barcello has thrust PJC into a starting role that he just isn’t built for.

Alex Barcello very well may bring back the golden age of Arizona point guards, especially in a few years as an upperclassman, but at this point, the Wildcats severely lack the “glue” that elite play from that position brings.
