RJ Barrett – Small forward

After opting to be part of the 2018 class, Barrett became the top prospect of the group. He’s an offensive juggernaut with the ability to score in a variety of ways. He can drive, shoot, and handle the ball as well. His size at 6’7 and 200 pounds also allows him to guard multiple positions in college.

An ideal comparison would be former Kansas Jayhawk and current Minnesota Timberwolves wing Andrew Wiggins, who’s also a fellow Canadian native.

He played high school basketball in one of the most prestigious programs in all of the country in Montverde high school in Florida, where he, along with a couple of other top 100 players, is leading the team to an undefeated season. Barrett was also just recently named a McDonald’s High School All-American.

The recruitment of Barrett went rather quick, with Duke being on the final list of schools along with Oregon and Kentucky. The Blue Devils were always considered the front-runner, so his decision wasn’t a big surprise.

Where he fits on next year’s roster

Of all the positions likely to be vacated, the wing spot might be the one that stays. So there may be some reshuffling of the starting lineup but Barrett will absolutely see the court.
