Big East basketball: Mid-season recap, awards and Bracketology
Big East Bracketology part two
Creighton – 6 (Victim of non-conference schedule)
The reason why I said the Blue Jays were the “victim” of the pre-Big East schedule is because they played big names, but almost all of them have imploded. Teams like Baylor, Northwestern, UCLA, Yale and UT-Arlington are much worst than expected, leaving Gonzaga and Nebraska of all teams the only quality win. Creighton should be a three seed, and could climb up with two games against Villanova.
Seton Hall – 6 (Revenge of Rutgers)
Wins over Louisville and Texas Tech are looking great, but that loss to rival Rutgers is coming back to haunt them. Have to give the Scarlet Knights credit for finding a way to double-screw the Pirates, by not only beating them, but then having the most losses in the Big Ten and becoming a really bad loss. Very creative.
Xavier – 2 (Is a one seed possible?)
The Musketeers are quietly climbing the ladder, and is just below the top teams in each bracket. Wins over Wisconsin and Baylor doesn’t mean much now, but Cincinnati is a strong resume victory. based on the schedule, there are two ways for Xavier to get up a seed line. One, beat Villanova on the road later on, or two, win 8/10 games left in the regular season.
Villanova – 1 (Top overall seed likely)
According to our latest Bracketology, the four No. 1 seeds includes the Wildcats, Kansas, Virginia and Purdue. I personally view Villanova as the favorite to be on No. 1 overall seed when it’s all said and done.

Purdue is in a weak conference, and won’t have the numbers to beat out the other teams. Virginia and Kansas don’t have that problem, but are much more vulnerable to more losses than Villanova would be. Don’t be surprised if Jay Wright’s team gets to stay near home for the NCAA tournament.
