Team Spotlight: Butler Bulldogs
Butler is one of the hotter teams in the nation right now. Not only has the team won four games in a row but they have dominated in each of those games. Their average margin of victory during this winning streak is 20 points and they are operating at an elite level on both ends of the floor. Kelan Martin and Kamar Baldwin are the go-to scorers but it has been the emergence of Aaron Thompson and Henry Baddley that has made this team better.
Both of these players are excellent defenders who are starting to show their worth on the offensive end. While Baddley is becoming a dangerous threat as a corner 3-point shooter, Thompson has grown as a playmaker over the course of this season and is running Butler’s potent offense. The offensive progressions of these two players have allowed them to stay on the floor for longer periods of time, therefore improving Butler’s defense. As long as the Bulldogs continue their current play on the defensive end of the floor, we will see them continue to rise.
Currently tied for third in Big East play, this has been a remarkable season for head coach LaVall Jordan so far. Remember, these Bulldogs were picked to finish eighth in the conference in the preseason.
With a home game against Xavier followed by a road battle with Villanova up next on the schedule, there is a ton of potential waiting in this next week for the Bulldogs.
