Team Spotlight: Tennessee Volunteers

Speaking of surprise teams this year, who saw Tennessee competing for the SEC title at the beginning of the year? The Volunteers have practically come out of nowhere to be a team that might compete for a No. 1 seed at the end of the season. While teams around them have lost recently, Tennessee has won each of their last three games by more than 20 points.

It seems as though the Volunteers are somehow just hitting their stride and they are doing it on both ends of their floor. The team currently ranks at No. 7 in KenPom and is steadily gaining more national attention. What was once a team that prided itself on defense has become one of the more potent offensive teams in the nation. In SEC play, the Volunteers are averaging 79.0 points per game. This number ranks second in the conference.

With a two-game road trip against Kentucky and Alabama coming up, Tennessee could make a serious jump in the next week. The Volunteers are for real and this is the last call to get on the bandwagon before it fills up.
