NCAA basketball: Ranking the 30 Naismith award finalists
No. 14: Devonte’ Graham – Senior guard, Kansas
2017-18 stats: 17.5 ppg 4.0 rpg 7.2 apg
Best season performance: 28 points and six assists in the win at TCU
The Jayhawks might not win the Big 12 title this year, but that won’t be because of their senior leader. He’s been somewhat overshadowed by the other point guards in the league, but has done his very best to make up for the lost production from Mason of a year ago.
Not only has he reached double figures in scoring in all but three games, but has only had under five total assists in a game once this season. Add his iron-man abilities by playing all 40 minutes in the team’s last nine contests, and you have an all-around star.
No. 13: Chandler Hutchison: Senior forward, Boise State
2017-18 stats: 20.0 ppg 7.7 rpg 3.5 apg
Best season performance: 44 points and eight rebounds in a win over San Diego State
While last season may have been a surprise for Mountain West opponents when it comes to the scoring abilities of Hutchison, this time around has been no shock. He’s the leading scorer in the conference, including a school-record 44 points on national television versus the Aztecs.
His value to the Broncos goes beyond the box score, with several game-winning or just simply clutch baskets to help win a few games on the season. His draft stock has risen as well, becoming a surefire first round pick in the June draft.
