Team A: DeAndre Ayton (Arizona) and Alize Johnson (Missouri State)
Another prime candidate to go #1 overall in the upcoming NBA draft, DeAndre Ayton shows every time he takes the floor how special he is. He’s big, athletic, and already super polished on the offensive end. He can score from three-levels and is a monster on the glass, helping Arizona always have an edge on the inside.
Alize Johnson is another polished big man who does a lot of damage on the offensive end. Like Ayton, he’s a very good rebounder, securing 11.5 rebounds per game thus far. Playing in this game could help Johnson show his talent among elite competition to NBA scouts, as he’s a borderline second round draft choice at the moment.
Team B: Jock Landale (St. Mary’s) and Mohamed Bamba (Texas)
Jock Landale is the driving force behind St. Mary’s terrific season thus far. The school is currently ranked #15 in the nation and has high hopes for tournament success. Their senior star is averaging 21.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, all while shooting from a 65% clip.
While Landale carries the offensive load for Team A’s big men, the Texas freshmen will come off the bench and supply valuable rim protection. Bamba has a historically long frame (7’9″ wingspan), and ranks 2nd among the nation in shot blocking. His offense has progressed nicely this season, making him a sure-fire lottery pick come June.
