Summit League Basketball: Player of the Year Rankings
3. Bryson Scott – Fort Wayne
This is a tough call because Scott is one of the more natural scorers in the nation. His 22 points per game are second best in the Summit League and his 45 percent field goal clip is efficient for a point guard. However, he does not shoot the ball particularly well, only making 28 percent of his three-point shots. Scott also racks up two steals and nearly five rebounds every night. He has also racked up 673 total points so far this season. That mark is sixth best in the entire country.
Statistically speaking, Scott is one of the better players in the nation. However, when we gauge players who deserves a Player of the Year award, I hold winning in high esteem. The Mastodons are only 7-6 in conference play, which is tied for third with Denver. Even so, Fort Wayne has been one of the more inconsistent teams in the league. One has to wonder what this team would be like without Scott, but luckily they do not have to worry about that until next year.
