Duke Blue Devils

One way or another, Duke is always going to be in the mix for a top seed. As is the case again this year however, they have quite a lot of work to do to earn that right. The good news is, the fifth ranked team in the country has ample opportunity to do so. After a home game against Syracuse, the Blue Devils are off to Virginia Tech, a difficult place to play and therefore also an impressive looking win if they are able to get it.

Then, they play North Carolina again, and they have the conference tournament in which they may run into either the Tar Heels again or Virginia. Quite a few chances for Duke to make a statement, it is a matter of whether or not they can get hot at the right time and prove to the committee that they are worthy.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

Quite possibly the biggest surprise of college basketball this season, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are in the top seed conversation just a week from March. Chris Beard has done an unbelievable job resurrecting the program, and they are three wins from a regular season conference title.

If Texas Tech is able to beat Kansas again, take down West Virginia, and then make a deep run in their conference tournament, the committee better find a really good reason to keep them out of the top seed line.
