Teams going for top seeds

Purdue:

Even though Purdue lost three in a row including games to Michigan State and Ohio State, Purdue is still in line to get a two seed. With an RPI of 9 and KenPom of 4, the Boilermakers are looking at nothing worse than a three seed.

What’s interesting is that Vincent Edwards missed two games. Purdue won both of those though. Vince came back for senior night in a dominating win over Minnesota. He didn’t shoot the ball all that well, but it wasn’t needed. He’ll have until Friday to get healthier to put them back to full strength.

Michigan State:

Michigan State wins the Big Ten outright and they’re still not even projected a No. 1 seed in most brackets. That just goes to show how weak the middle to bottom part of the conference has been.

Their KenPom is up to fifth and they’re sitting at 15th in the RPI. The Spartans are sitting in line for a No. 2 seed which is fine given how kind of overrated their resume is. I guess they would need either Villanova, Xavier, Kansas or Duke to get bounced early in their conference tournaments to land a No. 1 seed.
