Big Ten basketball: 2018 Conference Tournament preview
Players who can lead a team to the Final Four
Carsen Edwards, G, Purdue
18.2 PPG, 2.9 APG, 3.8 RPG
Pick a Boilermaker, any Boilermaker. Each player for Purdue seems to have the potential to spark a run. We’re going to say Carsen Edwards is the biggest name to look out for on this squad. It’s unclear on how healthy Vincent Edwards is going to be down the stretch so Carsen is the man right now.
Carsen Edwards has shown to be a big time spark for Purdue lately now that he is clearly the top man for this team. Vincent and Carsen are preventing each other from winning Big Ten Player of the Year. If it’s just Carsen running the show later on this week, Purdue shouldn’t have to worry all that much.
Miles Bridges, F/Cassius Winston, G, Michigan State
17.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.8 APG/12.3 PPG, 7 APG, 3.3 RPG
Two for the price of one in this write up. It’s hard to choose between which Michigan State star player could lead a run. Miles Bridges is the obvious choice as he is going to be a pro soon and he could certainly upstart the team into winning the Conference Tournament. When he’s not turning the ball over and playing with confidence, Bridges is just as good as anyone in the country.
Cassius Winston on the other hand has been playing out of his mind. He leads the Big Ten in assists per game by 1.6 and there’s no question on why that is. Winston is the floor general for a great starting five and in the last five games, he has shown why he can take over when needed.
