March Madness: Struggling teams that will still do well in the 2018 NCAA Tournament
TCU Horned Frogs
In the early months of the season, TCU was the Cinderella story of college basketball. The Horned Frogs were much improved without a doubt, but few expected them to crack the top ten of the national rankings.
But when the beginning of the conference season came about, they found themselves in a severe slump. Losing four of their first five in conference play, Jamie Dixon’s squad looked to be close to the same NIT caliber club they have been for the past few seasons.
Since then, TCU has bounced back and re-established themselves as a clear tournament team and possible top 25 team. Even so, they have slowed down over their past two games, losing to Texas Tech in the regular season finale and dropping their opening Big 12 tournament game to Kansas State.
Even though the Horned Frogs lack the momentum often seen in a team that surprises in March, they do still have loads of talent, chemistry, and most importantly, depth. This, along with strong coaching, will allow them to bounce back unfazed and possibly make a run through the first weekend even as a six or seven seed.
