Butler Basketball: Keys for the Bulldogs in their rematch against Purdue
Make it rain from 3-point range
This is where Butler’s role players will need to be most active. Baldwin and Martin are more than capable 3-point shooters themselves but they are at their best when they can work in pick-and-roll or isolation opportunities with moves towards the basket. With this being said, these driving lanes are only opened when the Bulldogs get help around the perimeter.
I already talked about the importance of Sean McDermott in this regard but Paul Jorgensen and Henry Baddley are almost as important. Along with Nate Fowler, these two are the biggest contributors for the Bulldogs off the bench. In addition, they are dangerous scorers from deep.
On the season, Henry Baddley is a consistent marksman from the corner. He might not average the most points on the floor (4.2 per game) but he is 20-for-42 (47.6%) from beyond the arc this season. For those who have watched the Bulldogs, it is clear that Baddley is most effective when he is able to work from the corner.
Jorgensen, on the other hand, is less efficient but shoots with far more volume. The junior attempts the vast majority of his shots from beyond the arc and converts on 35.4% of those shots. Even though this percentage is rather pedestrian, he has remarkable range and can get hot in the blink of an eye. Once he gets going, his high-energy play on both ends of the floor invigorates the entire Butler roster.

Even though Haas will be out, Purdue will pose a huge threat to Butler. The Dawgs will be looking for revenge on their in-state rivals after the beatdown the Boilermakers handed them in December.
