3. Keenan Evans, Texas Tech Red Raiders

Keenan Evans has been the driving force to get Texas Tech to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2005. The point guard made the First Team All-Big 12 team this year and shows no signs of slowing down.

Actually, there’s one thing: a sprained toe suffered last month. He knows this is his last hurrah in the NCAA Tournament, however, so he hasn’t let it affect his play on the court so far.

In the win over Stephen F. Austin, Evans got it done at the free throw line. He attempted ten shots from the charity stripe converting all ten of them. In what wound up as a ten point win for Texas Tech, those free throws made the difference.

Evans was a little more erratic in the tight win over Florida, turning the ball over to the Gators four times. Nevertheless, he still led the Red Raiders with 22 points. He’s also preparing to hand the keys over to Zhaire Smith, a freshman who has looked sensational during the NCAA Tournament.

The senior is already set to go down as an all-time great in Lubbock. Leading the team to their first Elite Eight – and Final Four – would accomplish that.
